The game of padel is borrowed from the game of tennis by taking the same rules but using rackets, originally with a wooden paddle, a rubber ball and a quarter-sized court, incorporating in the rules the validity of bouncing off the side walls.
In synthetic terms, it can be considered a hybrid between tennis and squash.
The dimensions of a padel court are as follows
- Internal length: 20 m
- Inside width: 10 m
- Wall height: 3 m
- Fence height: 4 m
- Net internal height of the roof: 7 m
The Fund
The bottom of the playing field is compulsorily created by a slab
with a reinforced concrete perimeter curb
The Walls
The perimeter walls are made of brick with a plaster and paint finish or of tempered or multilayer glass.
The fences are metal, galvanised, painted and thermo-coated with plastic. Two entrance gates to the field can be placed at the side.
Glasses
Tempered glass on the perimeter must be 12 mm and not 10 mm
as the Italian regulations on the use of toughened glass panes
of security in a public place, requires that resistance be guaranteed
to a horizontal thrust of 3 KN/m and a wind load of 2KN/m2. Resistance to these limit values cannot be guaranteed by 10mm toughened glass.
Space for Installation
To enable the installation of the camp, an area of at least
21,3×11,3 m.
Thus, in the same space as a 5-a-side football pitch (40 x 20 m), N.3 padel courts can be installed.
Padel Court Variants
Regarding the configuration of the mix of wire mesh and opaque part, one can
refer to two styles that are identified as European and American. It will be our task, within the limits of the regulations, to create the configuration that best suits the needs of the sports centre. For example, areas exposed to lateral or diagonal wind can guide the choice between the different structures. Two variants are also allowed to close the sides of the pitch:
Variant 1: The lateral is composed of staggered areas of wall
at both ends, 3 metres high by 2 metres long
the first part is 2 metres high by 2 metres long
the second and by areas of metal structure that complete the fence up to 3 metres in height in the central 16-metre section and up to 4 metres in height in the extreme two metres.
Variant 2: The lateral is composed of staggered areas of wall in both
the ends, 3 metres high by 2 metres long the first part and of
2 metres high by 2 metres long the second and from structure areas
metal, completing up to 4 metres in height along the entire length
of the side. If the metal structure is fixed to a frame, the top
of the frame must be free of foreign objects (e.g. cables, boxes
electrical junction boxes, lighting fixtures, etc.).
Paving
The flooring is made of fibrillated artificial turf, monofilament or curled monofilament with heights varying between 10 and 16 mm. The different types allow you to define the stiffness/softness and speed/slowness you want to achieve on the pitch.
